SITE Gives Members Respect in the Industry

SITE is well-respected in the construction industry of Greater St. Louis and works closely with many other professional organizations.

SITE was founded in 1966 when 3 separate associations decided to join together. All three were basically involved in SITE preparation work for residential, commercial and highway construction, and all employed the basic crafts: laborers, operating engineers, and teamsters.

They were the Greater St. Louis Paving Contractors Association, the Associated Sewer Contractors, and the St. Louis Earthmovers Association. With one association to represent site preparation contractors, they would have a united effort in labor negotiations. Two other associations to join SITE are the Concrete Contractor's Association and the Association of Landscapers.

Today, SITE still represents its members in labor issues, although it is not mandatory that members sign over their bargaining rights. SITE is available on a daily basis to assist its members on any labor questions that may arise.

As the SITE Improvement Association began to grow, it became more and more important for the organization to represent its members on issues other than labor negotiations.

Working with the AGC ( Associated General Contractors ) and the St. Louis Homebuilders, SITE is often called upon to offer input on current issues.
